MOBILE, AL-- The Winthrop women's golf team finished in seventh place at the 54-hole Lady Jaguar Invitational that was held at the Azalea City Golf Club in Mobile, AL and hosted by the University of South Alabama.
Junior Katie Bolling led Winthrop as she tied for sixth place in medal play with a three-round total of 229 (76-78-75) on the par 72, 6,071-yard layout. As a team Winthrop shot 936 (317-310-309) to finish 22 shots behind tournament champion Samford who finished at 914, two shots better than South Alabama and Southern Mississippi. A total of 12 schools competed in the event.
In addition to Bolling's performance, junior Kayla Cline also had three rounds in the 70s as she shot 232 (79-77-76) to finish in a tie for 16th place. Sophomore Danielle Dunnagan tied for 35th position at 240 (82-79-79) while junior Allison Itria tied for 41st with a 243 (80-77-86) and sophomore Nicole Mooberry placed 49th at 250 (86-86-78).
South Alabama's Kristen Golightly captured medalist honors with a 6-over-par total of 222 (73-74-75).
Winthrop will be back in action March 19-21 when it travels to Hilton Head for The Low Country Intercollegiate.
