Rock Hill, S.C. – Winthrop women's golfer Alayna Friedt has been tabbed as the Big South Conference Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Thursday afternoon.

Friedt led the team with a T20 finish at the Low Country Intercollegiate as the team finished 8^th in the 15 team field. Friedt opened the event with a team-low 76 followed by a second round 75 later that afternoon. She finished the tournament at 15-over and had her best finish as an Eagle at T20. Fried led the team in Par 4 scoring and tied for the team-low in Par 3 scoring. This was the first tournament of the season in which Friedt had the top finish on the team as she's had the second-best twice.

This is the first conference weekly honor for an Eagle this season and the first Eagle to garner Freshman of the Week honors since teammate Constanca Mendonca on Feb. 29, 2024.
