For the second consecutive week Alice Garcia (Brasilia, Brazil) was named the Crons Brand Freshman of the Week in the Big South. This is the fifth time this season that she has been given this honor. Rebekah Jenkins of Liberty was named the Choice Hotels Women's Tennis Player of the Week.
Garcia had a great week at No. 2 singles helping the Lady Eagles capture both of their match wins over Gardner-Webb and Charleston So. Garcia defeated Yasmine Doost of GWU 6-3, 6-3 and last weeks Big South Player of the Week Yvonne Hubler of CSU 3-6, 6-2, 6-1. Garcia teamed up with Giovanna Portiolli (Curitiba, Brazil) to win against Charleston Southern's Angelica Sidorenko and Alia Nour 8-5 at No.1 doubles.
Garcia has won four consecutive singles matches and is 12-6 on the season in singles matches. Garcia is a stunning 6-1 when playing in the No. 2 position in singles. In doubles, Garcia and Portioli have teamed up in every game and have a 10-8 record on the season.
