Johnnson was tabbed as The Crons Brand Freshman of the Week for the Big South Conference on Dec. 23
Johnson averaged 15 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists while shooting 45 percent from the field, 55 percent from three and 1.000 from the foul line this past week.
The Mansfield, OH native started the week with 12 points and four rebounds at North Carolina Central. Against NCCU he hit a three during an 11-3 run to start the game for the Eagles. Then with the Eagles trailing late, he knocked down both free throws to cut the deficit to three points with 16 seconds left. Prior to that, he hit a big three with 5:45 left to make it a two-point game. Against Wofford, Johnson scored 16 of his 18 points in the second half and nearly brought the Eagles back from a 20-point second half deficit. The Eagles trailed by 20 with 4:18 to play in the game when Johnson scored six points during the team's 14-0 run to cut the deficit to 6 points with 36 seconds left and then hit two free throws with 9 seconds left to make it a 56-50 deficit, which the team forced a turnover on the inbound for one last chance.
Johnson leads the team in scoring at 13.9 points and has double-figures in four straight games and eight of the 10 games played this season as he's started all 10 games.
