Poulos Selected To WPSL Second-Team (7-30-07)

Eagle Goalkeeper Receives Summer Accolade

SACRAMENTO, CAWinthrop women’s soccer junior goalkeeper Dimitra Poulos already received an accolade in 2007 as she has been named to the WPSL (Women’s Premier Soccer League) Second-Team.

Poulos, who is the reigning Big South Conference Player of the Year, played for Rush Salt Lake City, who finished the Southwest Division tied for second place with a 5-3 record. Winthrop junior forwards Erin Foote and Chelsea White were also part of the roster.

Poulos is coming off a superb 2006 season when she led the Winthrop Lady Eagles to a Big South regular season title and semifinal run at the conference tournament. She led all Big South goalkeepers in save percentage, number of saves, shutouts and goals against average. Poulos was also selected to the NSCAA/Adidas All-Southeast Region Second Team.
