Winthrop University Athletics

In the summer of 2023, Halle was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Operations where she oversees onboarding, sport oversight for select sports, and many other internal operations for the department. She also serves as the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Liaison, and serves on Staff Assembly and the United Way campus committee.  Halle joined Winthrop in January 2022 as the Athletics Operations Coordinator for administration as well as ESports, Lacrosse, and Women’s Basketball.
 
Prior to Winthrop, Halle was the Director of Compliance at Converse University for 3 and a half years. She handled the day-to-day compliance duties for the entire athletic department, served as a liaison to many departments on campus, and served on numerous committees. She was also the SAAC liaison and served on the Communications and Education committees for the National Association for Athletics Compliance (NAAC). Halle had a 1 year stint at Coker University where she was the Student-Athlete Success Coach and Compliance intern. She assisted students with their academic and career planning, as well as the compliance director in day-to-day duties. She received her Master of Science Degree in 2018 from Coker in College Athletic Administration. Halle graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in Exercise and Sport Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2017. During all four years of undergraduate she worked with the Women’s Basketball team.
 
Halle currently resides in Rock Hill, South Carolina with her husband, Micah James, and their dog Zeke. She was born and raised in Kershaw, South Carolina by her parents Robert and Stephanie Thompson along with her siblings Arlivia and Trey.
