Cindi Miller

Cindi Miller, a two-time first team All-Big South Conference player at UNC Asheville, is beginning her first year as an assistant coach. under her former head coach Julie Torbett.
 
Miller, who played for Torbett on the UNC Asheville team from 2008 - 2010 and was a coach at Biltmore Volleyball Academy for the past three seasons, has also worked with camps and clinics under Coach Torbett.  She will primarily responsible for working with the outside hitters at Winthrop.
 
"I'm really excited to have Cindi in Rock Hill" Torbett said. " I recruited her as a high school junior, so I've known her a long time. She knows how I want to train and she can explain to the girls what I'm thinking and how to play for me. Competitive drive, loyalty and work ethic are embedded in her thought process." 
 
Miller says she is very excited to join the Winthrop volleyball staff.  “The opportunity to learn from two very experienced and knowledgeable coaches will be invaluable. I look forward in continuing to learn from Coach Torbett as I begin my collegiate coaching career. The lessons she taught me and demonstrated as my coach at Asheville will certainly continue to be implemented into my job now at Winthrop.”
 
 A native of Decatur, Indiana, Miller was a standout athlete in high school and had a stellar career in the Big South Conference.  During her Belmont H.S. career, Miller was a PrepVolleyball All-American, earned All-conference honors for three consecutive years, and was MVP and first team All-State as a senior while leading her team in kills and blocks as senior. She also lettered four years in basketball and track and was named a first team in basketball for three years.

After being recruited by Torbett to play at UNC Asheville, Miller began her career by being voted to the Big South Conference All-Freshman Team. She was a preseason All-Big South selection as a senior and was a first team All-Big South performer as a junior and senior. She finished her career with 1,436 kills which ranks her seventh on the UNC Asheville career list.  She also notched 870 career digs.
 
Miller graduated from Asheville in May, 2012  with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology.
