Becca Acevedo

Becca Acevedo was named an assistant coach with the Winthrop volleyball staff in May of 2018.

"Becca is an extremely vibrant and outgoing young lady that is great with people and is a perfect fit for this team," said head coach Chuck Rey. "She is a very driven, self-motivated and hard-working coach who has always found success throughout her volleyball career. Her determination and successful ways will help guide this program back to the top of the Big South Conference… Beyond and more important than all her volleyball accolades, Becca is a young lady of the utmost character that will be a great mentor and role model for our student-athletes."

Acevedo serves as the team's defensive coordinator, prior to joining the Eagles she spent a two-year stint at the University of West Florida. Displaying her defensive proficiency, Acevedo coached the Argonauts' libero to AVCA South Region Freshman of the Year and Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Year honors. Acevedo also has experience coaching with USA Volleyball High Performance teams, and coached with USA Volleyball in July of 2018.

"I want to thank Coach Rey for providing me with the opportunity to join Winthrop Athletics," said Acevedo. "I believe in the vision he has for the future of this program and the culture he brings to the gym. I am beyond thrilled to take the next step in my coaching career with Chuck, [assistant coach] Sherisa [Livingston] and the entire Winthrop volleyball family."

Acevedo was a volleyball student-athlete at Palm Beach Atlantic University, where she was a three-time AVCA All-American, a three-time Independents Collegiate Athletic Association Setter of the Year and led the Sailfish to three NCAA Regional appearances. She was also a three-time AVCA All-Region first team performer, and was a Daktronics All-Region first-team selection twice.
