Blake Ellis joined the soccer coaching staff in 2018 as the goalkeeper coach after spending three seasons at Chowan University.
While at Chowan, Ellis coached as a graduate assistant for two seasons, and as a volunteer assistant for one season. 

In 2017, Ellis helped lead Chowan to an 11-5-2 overall record and a 5-3-2 record in the program’s first ever conference affiliation in the Conference Carolinas.  The team finished with a 9-0-1 overall record at home and notched six Conference Carolinas All-Conference selections. In the 2016 season, Ellis assisted the squad to a 9-6-2 record after posting an 11-7-5 record in 2015. In the 2015 campaign, the Hawks won the NCCAA South Region Championship and went unbeaten at the NCCAA National Championships in Kissimmee, Fla. grabbing two draws.

The Clinton, N.C. native graduated from East Carolina University in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in Sports Studies, and has received a Masters in Elementary Education from Chowan University. While attending ECU, Ellis was a part of the coaching staff for the Women’s Soccer program as a team manager.

Ellis assists in the training of goalkeepers and assists with the internal operations of the men's and women's soccer programs at Winthrop. 

Currently, Ellis coaches club with Discoveries Soccer Club, and is also a staff coach for the NC Olympic Development Program.
