Amanda Shimp

Amanda Shimp

Amanda Shimp, a 2009 graduate of Ohio State, is serving as an assistant women's lacrosse coach at Winthrop under head coach John Sung.  She joined the Winthrop staff in October, 2011.

While at Ohio State, she was a four-year member of the varsity lacrosse team and earned American Lacrosse Conference All-Tournament honors in 2007 and 2008 and was a Second Team All-Conference selection in 2007.  She was an All-Big Ten Academic Team member in 2008 and was also honored on the American Lacrosse Conference Academic Team in 2007 and 2008.  She was named a Ohio State Univerity Scholar-Athlete in 2008.

Following graduation from Ohio State with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Middle Childhood Education with minors in Education and African & African American Studies, Shimp enrolled in the Sports Administration program at the University of Louisville where she earned a degree in May of 2011.

While in Louisville, the Endwell, NY native, served as assistant varsity and junior varsity lacrosse coach for two years at Du Pont Manual High School.  She also served as project manager and game day operations assistant for the Louisville Lightning Professional Indoor Soccer Team.  She has also had other event management experience serving as an operations intern for the American Junior Golf Association during the summer of 2010 in Braselton, GA.

She is the daughter of Everett and Karen Shimp of Endwell, NY, and she has three brothers.
