Janko Popovic, a native of Belgrade Serbia and a graduate of LeMoyne-Owen College in Memphis, is serving as the graduate assistant for women's basketball.
Popovic graduated with cum laude honors from LeMoyne-Owen in 2014 and is pursuing a MBA degree at Winthrop.Â
He came to the United States in 2009 and attended Mountain State Academy where he played high school basketball for one year. He completed his senior season by competing in the ESPN Rise National Tournament. He went on to play for two years at Glenville State in West Virginia before transferring to LeMoyne-Owen. Following graduation, he spent a year in Belgrade working with Pro Future Sports, a recruiting agency.
"Janko is a diligent worker who cares about our program and players," said Winthrop head coach Kevin Cook. "He comes to us with a great amount of experience with Synergy and will serve our program in all aspects of our video operations."
