Carlotta Kloppenburg, a native of California and 2014 graduate of Point Loma Nazarene in San Diego, is beginning her first year as a women's basketball assistant coach after serving as a graduate assistant in 2014-15.
She had just begun an Internship with the WNBA Indiana Fever a week ago before re-joining the Winthrop program. Kloppenburg also served a summer internship in 2014 with the Los Angeles Sparks and interned with the Tulsa Shock during the 2012 and 2013 summer months. She also has been involved in basketball summer camps having worked in the Pete Newell Tall Women's Basketball Camp in 2011.
She played collegiately for the PLNU Sea Lions in 2012-13 and 2013-14 as she helped lead her team to the National Christian College Athletic Association playoffs and was a two-time PacWest Academic All-Conference selection. She graduated with Cum Laude honors and a degree in Exercise and Sports Science.
"Carlotta is a winner. She comes from a strong basketball bloodline as her grandfather was an assistant coach in the NBA for 18 seasons and her father has coached in both the NBA and WNBA," said Winthrop head coach Kevin Cook. "She is a rising star in the women’s basketball world.".
