Caitlin Kriesel-Bigler

Head women’s basketball coach Semeka Randall Lay announced the hiring of Caitlin Kriesel-Bigler as an assistant coach prior to the 2021-22 season. Kriesel-Bigler comes to Rock Hill from Millsaps College (MS), where she spent two seasons as an assistant coach.

“I am extremely excited to have Caitlin Kriesel-Bigler join our Eagle family,” Randall Lay commented. “Caitlin is eager about the coaching profession and has an incredible passion to help student-athletes reach their potential on and off the court. In addition, she is a go-getter that will be a valuable asset to our program. Her ability to relate to our players will be integral in helping our program move the needle forward.”

During her two seasons with the Majors, Kriesel-Bigler helped the program to 25 wins, including a 12-2 mark in the COVID-19 shortened 2020-21 campaign. Prior to her time at Millsaps, she worked as an assistant coach at Thomas College (ME). She was involved with recruiting, film breakdown, player development, and practice plans.

Kriesel-Bigler also spent time with the LSU women’s basketball program from 2017-19. Her duties included daily practice set-up and breakdown, charting stats, working the clock, and assisting with individual workouts.

“I am incredibly grateful and excited to join the coaching staff and be part of the women’s basketball program at Winthrop,” Kriesel-Bigler said. “I look forward to working with and impacting the student-athletes, as well as learning from a veteran coaching staff.”

Kriesel-Bigler played collegiately at Hendrix College (AR), where she scored over 1,300 points and was a four-time all-conference performer. She was named honorable mention WBCA All-America at the completion of her senior season in 2015-16.

She graduated from Hendrix with a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2016 and earned her master’s degree in pedagogy and psychological science from LSU in 2019.
