Brooke Le Sage

Brooke Le Sage is in her first season as an assistant coach of the Eagle softball program. Le Sage came to Winthrop from University Antelope Valley in Lancaster, California where she was an assistant coach in charge of defense.

Le Sage is excited to be a part of a coaching staff looking to help the program work its way back to competing for a conference title. Le Sage said she’d like to “help the team become a unit.” Le Sage said of working with the two veteran softball coaches, “I look forward to learning from and working with two of the best.”

The 2008 California State University Long Beach graduate spent last season as an assistant head coach for UAV, where she was the infield defense coordinator along with pitchers and catchers and was a hitting instructor as well. She received a degree in communication studies from CSULB, where she was a starting catcher for four seasons and a team captain as a senior.

Prior to her stint at UAV, Le Sage was an assistant coach at Mt. San Antonio Community College in Walnut, CA. In addition to her softball duties, Le Sage was also a physical education professor.

Le Sage’s path to becoming a coach began in the summer of 2005 where she was a camp counselor at the CSULB 49’er Softball Camp in Long Beach, CA.

The Corona, CA native began her coaching career as an assistant at El Modena High School in Orange County, CA. She worked with the offense and defense as well as preparing practice plans and coaching first base.

Le Sage played on the Professional Fastpitch Xtreme Tour (PFX Tour) in 2009 and had the defensive play of the game at the Texas Tour stop. From 2008-11, she worked as a volunteer assistant for the Filly’s Gold 18u in Jurupa Valley, CA.

She also works with FCA softball where she coaches camps, is a mentor and went on a mission trip to Honduras this past May. Le Sage does private lessons where she works on both mental and physical aspects of the game.

Her duties with the Lady Eagle program is specifically with the catchers and corners (1st and 3rd basewomen) to improve their defense this season.
