Assistant Soccer Coach Brock Duckworth

Brock Duckworth

Brock Duckworth enters his second season as the goalkeeper coach of both the men's and women's soccer programs.

Duckworth, of the Charlotte Eagles professional soccer team, oversees the goalkeepers for both the men’s and women’s program as he replaced Patrick Mitrovich, who held the position the previous two seasons. Duckworth is a native of Dallas, Texas and played his collegiate soccer at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington and is currently a member of the Charlotte Eagles of the United Soccer League (USL PRO).

“We are pleased to have Brock join both our men’s and women’s soccer staff,” said head men’s soccer coach Rich Posipanko. “His success and experience at the collegiate level as well as professional level should serve him well when working with our goalkeepers. Six out of the seven goalkeepers on both the men’s and women’s team will be new to Winthrop this year. This will allow Brock as well as our goalkeepers to start fresh with his training program.”

After graduating from UNCW, Duckworth signed with the Wilmington Hammerheads of USL PRO in 2011.  He posted four shutouts while going 11-5-2 in his 18 appearances. In 2012 Duckworth signed with the Charleston Battery and prior to the 2013 season he was signed by the Charlotte Eagles.

In 2009 he was an NSCAA All-South Second Team selection as well as being named to the Colonial Athletic Association All-Conference Teams in 2009 and 2010. While in college he played for the Carolina Dynamo in the PDL.

Besides his duties of working with all goalkeepers, he will direct the Winthrop Goalkeeper School, assist with summer camps and the Manchester Cup.
