Steve Struble is in his first season as director of basketball operations for the men’s basketball program.
Struble most recently served as video coordinator for the University of Delaware since last September. Prior to taking that position, he served as a graduate assistant at Xavier University for two years before earning a Master of Education degree in 2010.
“I am very excited about the addition of Steve to our staff,” said Kelsey who took over as Winthrop's head coach on March 29. “Steve was a graduate assistant during my tenure at Xavier and impressed me with his passionate work ethic. He is extremely organized and attacks everything he does with great energy. He knows my philosophy and system very well.”
After earning his Bachelor of Science degree in health and physical education in 2006 from Slippery Rock University, Struble was hired as assistant men's basketball coach at St. Mary's College in Maryland. He served in that position for two different stints, first from 2006 to 2008 and again from May 2010 until September 2011.
During his time at St. Mary's he helped lead that school to two conference championships, one Sweet Sixteen appearance, and one Elite Eight appearance. During his three years at St. Mary's that program produced three all-conference players, two all-region performers and one All-American.
