Kaylin Johnson was hired Aug. 16, 2022 as the Director of Basketball Operations for the men's basketball program. He came to the Eagles after serving as the Athletic Director for Sacred Heart Cathedral School in Knoxville, Tenn. He also served as the head boys basketball coach.
‘Kaylin is someone that I have known for a number of years, and always felt that he would be a great addition to our staff,” said head coach Mark Prosser. “He will provide a wealth of experience from coaching at a number of levels, and he will bring a fresh new perspective to our program. We feel very fortunate to welcome KJ and his fiancée Katie to our family here at Winthrop.”
Prior to that Johnson as the Associate Head Basketball Coach at Brevard College. In his eight seasons with the Tornados he contributed with recruiting, scouting, team travel, fund raising and ran the Tornados JV program.
The Baton Rouge, La. native received a bachelor’s degree in sport administration from Samford University in 2012, where he was a four-year member of the men’s basketball team. He appeared in more than 80 games for the Bulldogs and received the team’s most improved player honor in 2009-10. Johnson was also a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
