Winthrop University Athletics

2010:  Went 0-5 on the mound as a redshirt-sophomore with a 10.09 ERA in 14 appearances with seven starts. Gave up 34 runs (all earned) on 47 hits, 22 walks and 20 strikeouts in 30.1 innings pitched. Opponents posted a .364 batting average against him. Pitched a season-high 5.0 innings at Georgia on Apr. 21 in which he allowed four runs on 10 hits, one walk and tied his season-best in strikeouts with five during 5.0 innings pitched. Also posted a five strikeout performance in his second start of the season against Canisius on Mar. 14. Also against the Golden Griffins, he pitched 4.1 innings and allowed two runs on four hits and two walks. Made first start of the season against Marist on Feb. 22, and also added starts against Penn State, twice against The Citadel and Coastal Carolina. 

2009:  Started in five games and accumulated a 3-2 record with a 5.64 ERA before suffering a season-ending arm injury. Allowed 24 runs (19 earned) in 30.1 innings of working on 32 hits, 17 walks and 29 strikeouts. Earned Big South Player of the Week honors on Mar. 16 after picking up the victory in Winthrop’s first-ever win against Southern California. He pitched 7.2 innings against the Trojans allowing one on just four hits and struck out six batters. Struck out a season-high eight batters twice against High Point and George Washington in his first career start as an Eagle.

John A. Logan C.C.:  Was a member of PSI Theta Kappa and made the President’s List.

High School:  Was a four-year letter winner in baseball and was named First Team All-Area, First Team All-Conference and Second Team All-Metro in 2007. Made the Presidential Honor Roll and was a member of the National Honors Society.

Personal:  The son of Vince and Lynne Patterozzi, Dominic is a Finance major who enjoys playing video games, watching movies and reading, and plans on attending graduate school and finding a job after graduation. His favorite foods are spaghetti and pizza, and Moneyball is his favorite book. Ray Lewis is his favorite athlete.
