Babe Thomas returns for his second season as a member of Winthrop's coaching staff, three years removed from a decorated career in the Winthrop Baseball program.
A four year starter behind the plate and in the outfield for the Eagles, Thomas played in 226 career games, which ranks him in the top ten all time in program history.
Thomas batted .267 during his Winthrop career, totaling 20 home runs and 131 runs batted in. A consistently patient hitter, Thomas drew 133 walks as an Eagle, tying him for third most in program history.
Defensively, Thomas threw out 36 would-be base stealers in his career, including 13 apiece his junior and senior seasons.
