Allie VandeWater Spotlight

Allie VandeWater Spotlight

Allie is the only player on the women’s soccer team that hails from the state of Indiana.  Since arriving in Rock Hill in 2009, Allie has been a mainstay in the Winthrop lineup, recording 74 career starts in 76 total games.  Her 74 career starts ranks fourth all-time in school history.  Standing at 5’3, what VandeWater gives away in height, she makes up for with intensity.  The senior co-captain is the orchestrator in the middle of the field for the Lady Eagles, her 11 career assists ranks third all-time at Winthrop.  Allie scored her first career goal at Wofford on September 13th, 2009 which was the game-winner.  Her first assist came on August 27th, 2010 against Marshall, she had two that game.

This season, VandeWater has been a key member of the Winthrop side which ranks 20th nationally in scoring offense.  Her four assist ranks third on the team.  Allie’s favorite Big South Conference team to play against is High Point; on Sept. 27 she scored her first goal of the season against the Panthers.

Allie has aspirations of becoming a Physical Therapist when she wraps up her playing days at Winthrop.  When she is not playing soccer, VandeWater likes listening to music and hanging out with her teammates.  In the classroom, Allie is majoring in Exercise Science.  VandeWater has been named as a member of the Big South Presidential honor roll each year she has been at Winthrop.
