Winthrop University Athletics

2009:  Made an appearance in 13 games and tallied an ERA of 4.91 in 11 innings pitched. Gave up 10 runs (six earned) on 13 hits, four walks and 10 strikeouts. Pitched a season-high 2.0 scoreless innings against Liberty on Apr. 18 surrendering only one hit, one walk and one strikeout. Also struck out three batters in 1.1 inning of work against Georgia on Apr. 8.

Indian Hill C.C.: Made 12 appearances pitching 17.2 innings giving up six runs and eight strikeouts. Also earned two saves. Was a distinguished Academic All-American and First team Academic All-Region in 2008. Made the President’s List twice and was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa fraternity.

Northern State University:  Started in nine games compiling a batting average of .167 with four RBI.

High School:  Was an All-Central Lakes Conference selection in 2005 and 2006. Named to the St. Cloud All-Area Team in 2005 and 2006, and was also part of the St. Cloud Times Senior Spotlight.

Personal:  The son of Dale and Christie Fries, Tyler is a Sport Management major who enjoys hunting and fishing, and plans on staying in baseball in some form after graduation. His favorite food is anything his mom makes, and Moneyball is his favorite book. Pat Neshek is his favorite athlete.
