Biography

2009:  Played in 55 games last season with 46 starts and compiled a .339 batting average with eight home runs, 30 RBI and 10 doubles. Was named Big South Player of the Week on Apr. 13 for his performances against then-ranked No. 5 Georgia and Presbyterian. During that four-game stretch, he hit .684 (13-for-19) with four homers and six RBI. Had a season-high four hits in the second game of a doubleheader against the Blue Hose. Hit first home run as an Eagle in comeback victory over The Citadel on Apr. 1. Posted a four RBI game against UNC Asheville on May 1. Also drove in three runs against VMI on Apr. 24, including the game-winning two RBI double in the bottom of the eighth inning.


Angelina C.C.:
  Was named First Team All-Conference in 2008 and was a participant in the Texas-New Mexico All-Star Game. He was named to the Dean’s List four times and was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society.


High School:
  Named Honorable Mention All-District in 2005 and was Second Team All-District and All-Central Texas in 2006. Was a member of the Academic All-District Team in 2005 and 2006, and also Academic All-State in 2006.


Personal:
  The son of Bill and Margaret Thielepape, Matt is a Sport Management major who enjoys playing racquetball, watching movies and swimming, and plans on moving back to Texas and begin a career as a motivational speaker after graduation. His favorite food is fried venison, and Angels and Demons is his favorite book. Josh Hamilton is his favorite athlete.
