Biography

2010:  Named Second Team All-Conference and to the Big South All-Tournament Team as a junior. Led the team for a third straight season with 15 home runs, also a career-high, and was second on the squad with 43 RBI as he hit .312 (67-for-215) in 57 games played with 55 starts. Finished tied for fourth on the team in hits, while recording 13 doubles, a career-best three triples, 131 total bases (second on the team), a .609 slugging percentage and a .419 on-base percentage. Was hit by a pitch a team-high 13 times, which is the fourth highest by a player in a season. Ranks third all-time at Winthrop in career hit by pitches with 36. Is also tied for second both at Winthrop with Jacob Dempsey and Daniel Carte, and the Big South with Dempsey, Carte and UNC Asheville’s Brian Shehan in career home runs with 42. Needs 12 long balls to break both records which is held by former Winthrop player Jason Colson at 53. Finished the season tied for sixth in the conference in home runs, and had a team-high five RBI against Marist on Feb. 21; the five RBI against the Red Foxes were also a career-high for him. Hit his first career walk-off homer in extra-inning win over Penn State on Mar. 20. Recorded two home runs in a game twice against the Nittany Lions on Mar. 20 and the first game of a doubleheader against High Point on Mar. 27. Homered in back-to-back contests twice, first in a doubleheader sweep against Presbyterian on May 1 and in the Big South Tournament against VMI on May 27 and Liberty on May 28. Had a season-high three hit performance against Penn State and consecutive two-hit games six times, including four straight contests with two hits from Feb. 19 against Northwestern until Feb. 22 against Marist. Also recorded three RBI performances at the plate against the Nittany Lions, Panthers and Radford on Apr. 23. Led the team with 25 multi-hit games and added nine multi-RBI games. Had a season-high hit streak of eight games. 

2009:
  Set a career-high in batting average (.348) while earning First Team All-Big South Conference honors. Played in 58 games with 57 starts, primarily as a designated hitter. Led the team in homers (14), RBI (53), slugging percentage (.612) and total bases (139). Ranked 10th in the Big South in hits (79), third in home runs, tied for sixth in runs batted in, second in total bases and sixth in slugging percentage. Was named Big South Conference Player of the Week on Mar. 23. Had 23 multiple hit games, a team-best 16 multiple RBI games and a season-best 10-game hitting streak. Had home runs against teams like Southern California, two in one game against Coastal Carolina and North Carolina. Homered in three straight games against North Carolina A&T, the Tar Heels and Liberty. Went 2-for-3 with four RBI and a home run against VMI on Apr. 26. Was named to the Big South Conference All-Tournament Team. Entered season ranked 10th all-time in career home runs at Winthrop. 

2008:  Named Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball and Ping! Baseball, and earned Second team All-Big South Conference honors after leading the team with 13 home runs (tied with Daniel Carte for most by a freshman) and second in RBI with 39 and a .287 batting average. Started in 57 of his games played and also had 13 doubles and three stolen bases. Hit a solo home run against St. John’s in only his second game as an Eagle. Had an 11-game hitting streak from April 16 to May 3 which also saw him have a season-high four RBI against Charleston Southern. Homered in every game of the series against UNC Asheville and Charleston Southern.


High School:  Was a three-time First Team All-Conference selection. Received the Babe Ruth Sportsmanship Award. Voted to the All-Northeast Ohio State Team as a senior. Voted to the Babe Ruth All-World Team. 


Personal:  The son of Ed and JoAnn Rohan, Eddie is a Sport Management major who enjoys fishing, and plans on playing professional baseball after graduation. His favorite food is steak, and Manny Ramirez is his favorite athlete.
