Biography

2010:  Finished redshirt-sophomore season with a team-high 56 starts and tied the team-lead in games played with 57. Hit a career-high six home runs to go with 34 RBI and a .288 batting average (67-for-233). Also led the team with 233 at-bats, and added 48 runs scored, 13 doubles, a .421 slugging percentage and a .371 on-base percentage. Finished season second on the team with seven stolen bases in 10 attempts. Established season-highs for Winthrop with four runs scored, five hits and three doubles at UNC Asheville on Apr. 17, and four walks against Penn State on Mar. 20. The five hits and three doubles also tied school records. Recorded 10 consecutive hits during three-game stretch from Mar. 18 against Columbia to Mar. 20 against Kent State. Later posted eight straight hits at UNC Asheville from Apr. 17-18. Received Big South Player of the Week honors on Mar. 22 when he hit .650 (13-for-20) in five games with two homers, nine RBI, a 1.050 slugging percentage and .731 on-base percentage. Had a two-homer performance in final game of doubleheader against High Point on Mar. 27. Drove in three runs in three different games, including twice during a three-game stretch. Accumulated 17 multi-hit games, nine multi-RBI games and a season-high eight-game hitting streak. Committed only two errors in 130 chances while playing primarily as a right fielder. 

2009:  Shifted to right field from the infield and hit .327 (71-217) as a redshirt freshman starting in all 58 games he played in with three home runs and 44 RBI while being named to the Big South Conference All-Tournament Team. Led the team in stolen bases with 13 to go along with 11 doubles. Had 22 multiple hit games, 15 multiple RBI contests (second the team) and posted a season-high 10-game hitting streak. Hit first career homer against VMI on Apr. 25. Had a season-best four RBI against UNC Asheville on May 1 and also recorded two runs batted in four consecutive games.


2008:  Had one RBI with a .130 batting average in 12 games played with five starts. Picked up his only RBI of the season against Prairie View A&M and also had a hit against Southern California. Received a redshirt season due to arm problems.


High School:  Three-time All-Region and All-Area selection. Voted to the 2007 HSSR and SCBCA All-State Teams. Played in the North/South All-Star game. Was selected A.C. Flora’s Defensive MVP in 2006 and overall MVP in 2007. Rated the second best middle infielder by Diamond Prospects and was also recognized on the Diamond Prospects Gold Glove Team.


Personal:  The son of John and Susan Sullivan, Sean is a Sport Management major who enjoys playing cards, reading, watching sports and playing ping-pong, and plans on attending law school after graduation. His favorite foods are steak and twice-baked potatoes, and Anything is his favorite book. Cal Ripken Jr. is his favorite athlete.
