2009: Hit .190 with one home run, 14 RBI, one double and one triple in 43 games played with 20 starts primarily in center field. Only home run of the season came against Radford during the Big South Tournament on May 22. Had a three RBI game against Eastern Michigan on Feb 20. Also had two multiple hit games, four multiple RBI games and a season-high five game hitting streak. Compiled a 2-2 record pitching with an 8.23 ERA in 10 appearances with five starts. Was named the Big South Conference Pitcher of the Week on Apr. 6 after allowing one run on one hit in 7.0 innings of work against Charleston Southern on Apr. 5. Pitched a total of 27.1 innings giving up 25 earned runs on 35 hits, eight walks and 18 strikeouts.
2008: Had a .237 batting average after playing in 52 games with 43 starts. Hit three home runs while driving in 29 runs and stealing five bases and tying for second on the team in walks with 17. Also pitched in 11 innings and posted a 1-1 record with a team-best 3.27 ERA in four appearances with two starts and seven strikeouts. Had four RBI games against Prairie View A&M and Charleston Southern and also had five games in which he had two hits. Picked up his only victory of the season pitching against Prairie View A&M when he pitched 5.0 innings giving up no runs on six hits, two walks and striking out three batters.
2007: Played in 11 games while starting six of them before suffering a season-ending wrist injury. Had an RBI at Pac-10 power UCLA. Hit first career home run on Feb. 24 against Miami (OH).
2006: Batted .276 (8-29) with eight hits and two RBI in 47 games played as a freshman (seven started). Pitched in 18 innings posting a 1-1 record with a 3.50 ERA.
High School: Named HSSR All-State as a junior and senior. Selected Team MVP as both a junior and senior, as well as Team Offensive Player of the Year as a junior. Selected to the Michelin All-Tournament Team as a junior and named Region Player of the Year. Selected to play with the SC Select Team as a senior. Led the team in hits, stolen bases and runs scored as a junior, and in home runs and saves as a senior.
Personal: The son of Greg and Andrea McBride, Tyler is currently pursuing his master’s degree in Business Administration who enjoys playing golf, watching television, and plans on continuing graduate school after the season is over. His favorite food is Japanese, and Beyond Belief is his favorite book. Josh Hamilton is his favorite athlete.
