Winthrop University Athletics

2010:  Redshirted after transferring from the University of North Carolina. 

North Carolina:  Appeared in 34 games in 2009, and made 14 starts as a designated hitter. Hit .238 with eight RBI, a .357 slugging percentage, 10 hits, 13 walks and four runs scored in 56 plate appearances. Drove in a career-high three runs against the Eagles on Apr. 15 in Chapel Hill. Saw action in 15 games as a freshman in 2008 and had seven hits to go along with five walks. Made four starts as a designated hitter. Recorded first career hit against Appalachian State on Apr. 2, 2008.

High School:  Was named All-State three times during his career at A.C. Flora High School. Rated the No. 1 first baseman in South Carolina by Diamond Prospects. Earned All-Area and All-Region honors all four years in high school. Named team offensive MVP in 2006 and 2007, while helping lead A.C. Flora to the 2007 Class AAA State Championship. Was a member of the South Carolina Select Team. 

Personal:  The son of Jim and Teresa Thomas, Brett is an Accounting major who enjoys hunting, fishing, going to the beach, bowling and playing pool, and would like to play baseball professionally or get a job in accounting and open his own company after graduation. His favorite food is chicken tenders, and Chipper Jones is his favorite athlete.
