Women's Soccer Shuts Out VMI, Earns First Win of the Season

Rock Hill, S.C. – Winthrop women's soccer secured their first win of the season in a 1-0 shutout over VMI on Thursday evening at Eagle Field. The Eagles' defense maintained a clean sheet with three saves by goalie Mia Ruffalo, while Mia Silber scored the game-deciding goal for the Eagles.

Game Recap
  • Mia Silber led an early offensive effort for the Eagles, recording two shots by the 4:51 mark, with one saved by Maren Ryberg. 
  • The Eagles continued to apply pressure, with Amalie Steen's attempt in the 10th minute also saved by Ryberg. 
  • VMI's Ella Peterson challenged the Eagles' defense at 24:35, but Mia Ruffalo made a crucial save to keep the match scoreless.
