Fripp Island, S.C..— Winthrop women's golf came up just short of advancing to match play as it dropped a tie-breaker to Charleston Southern on the final day of stroke play for the 2026 Big South Conference Championship, Tuesday afternoon.

- The Eagles finished T4 with Charleston Southern and Radford
- That led to a three-team playoff in which all five players on each team played a hole, counting the four lowest scores
- Winthrop lost to Charleston Southern by one stroke in the playoff as the Bucs advanced to match play
- Junior Constanca Mendonca finished T3 after a final round of 1-under
- It's Mendonca's best finish at the championship and the first Eagle in the Top 5 since Valentine Savioz was 3rd in 2021
- Senior Maelle Dreyer had her best championship finish at T10 as she posted the team's second-best round of the day at 77 (+6)
- This is the first time since 2018 the Eagles had two players in the Top 10 of the championship
- Senior Iciar Canalejo and freshman Alayna Friedt both finished T25 while senior Emily Baker was 32nd
- Winthrop finished 2nd in Par 4 scoring, 3rd in Par 3 scoring and 5th in Par 5 scoring
- Winthrop tied for 3rd in the field for the most birdies with 31
- Mendonca led the field in Par 3 scoring at 2-under and tied for 2nd in Par 5 scoring (-2)
- Medonca also led the Eagles in Par 4 scoring at 6-over
