Rozier Scores Team-High 22, Eagles Fall In Title Game

Duncomb Posts 14th Double-Double Of The Season

Johnson City, Tenn. – Kareem Rozier scored a team-high 22 points as Winthrop fell 91-76 to top-seeded High Point in the 2026 Air Force Reserve Big South Championship game, Sunday afternoon.

  • Rob Martin (24 points, 2 rebounds, 7 assists, block)
  • Cam'Ron Fletcher (17 points, 19 rebounds, steal)
  • Terry Anders (18 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, block, 2 steals)

FIRST HALF
  • Daylen Berry opened the scoring as he dropped in a corner three for the early lead
  • After a Rob Martin bucket at the rim, the Eagles dropped in another second-chance three as Kareem Rozier splashed one from the wing to lead 6-2
  • Owen Aquino gave the Panthers their first lead as he scored at the rim to lead 7-6 at the 16:54 mark
  • Winthrop scored a quick five points from Berry in transition to push their lead to 12-7 in about a 50 second span
  • At that point, High Point swung them momentum in its favor with a 15-1 run over the next over the next six and a half minutes
  • The run started with five straight points from Terry Anderson and also highlighted by threes from Chase Johnston and Cam'ron Fletcher
  • Anderson capped the run with a bucket inside off a feed from Martin to lead 22-13 with 9:48 left in the half
  • Winthrop answered by outscoring the Panthers 8-2 over the next two minutes behind threes from Berry and Rozier to make it a one possession game at 24-21
  • The Panthers pushed their first half lead to as much as 13 with 3:26 remaining
  • However, the Eagles chipped away before the break beginning with a tip-in from Berry
  • Anderson knocked down a three with 1:03 to play in the half for a 12 point advantage but the Eagles were able to cut the deficit in half going into the half
  • The 6-0 spurt was courtesy of three-point plays from Rozier with 34 seconds left and Berry with six seconds left

SECOND HALF
  • Eagles opened the second half on a 6-0 run that started with a three from Rozier followed by a Logan Duncomb bucket at the rim
  • Then after boarding a miss on the defensive end, Berry pushed the ball and then hit Wilson on the break with a pass over the defense and Wilson finished at the rim to lead 40-39 at the 18:26 mark
  • Eagles trailed 45-43 at the 16:42 mark when the Panthers went on a 13-1 run over the next four minutes to open up a double-digit lead
  • The run included points from six different players
  • The Eagles responded with a 7-0 run, all seven points scored by Duncomb
  • It began with two free throws followed by a three-point play to cut the deficit to single-digits before he made it a seven-point game after a dunk finish off a bounce pass from Clouet
  • Chase Johnston's three on the next possession put High Point back up by double-figures at 61-51 with 11 minutes to play
  • The double-digit lead held over the next few minutes until a Clouet and free throw from Berry pulled the Eagles within nine at the 8:24 mark
  • Anderson made two free throws to get the lead back to double-digits where it remained the rest of the game

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • The Eagles began the game 5-of-11 from the floor before missing their next 12 attempts from the floor as they finished at 36 percent for the game
  • High Point shot 48 percent in the second half and finished the game at 46 percent shooting
  • Winthrop was 8-of-33 behind the arc while the Panthers were 10-for-22
  • The two teams combined for 63 free throws as the Eagles were 18-for-31 at the line while High Point was 27-for-32
  • Winthrop had the advantage on the glass 46-40 and 17-7 on offensive rebounds as they finished with 16 second chance points
  • Points in the paint were nearly equal as the Eagles had a 34-32 advantage
NOTABLES
  • The Eagles competed in their 20th Big South title game, more than any other league member in history
  • Logan Duncomb posted his 14th double-double of the season with 17 points, 10 rebounds
  • It was the first double-double by an Eagle in the Big South title game since Xavier Cooks had 17 points, 14 rebounds in the 2017 championship game
  • Kareem Rozier (22) is the first Eagles to score 20 or more points in a championship game since D.J. Burns Jr. had 22
  • Duncomb and Clouet were both named to the Big South All-Tournament Team
