Rock Hill, S.C. – The Big South Conference announced the seedings for the 2026 Air Force Reserve Men's Basketball Championship as Winthrop will be seeded second.
The Eagles are the two seed for the 8
th time in program history and the first time since the 2022 championship. Winthrop will face seventh-seeded Charleston Southern on Friday, Mar. 6 at 2:30 p.m. with the winner advancing to Saturday's semifinal.
It is a rematch of a game played on Feb. 26, in which the Eagles fell 86-84 on the road as the teams split the regular season with each team winning on their home court.
Winthrop holds an all-time record of 15-3 as the second seed. The Eagles have won four titles as the two seed and made six appearances in the Big South title game. All-time the Eagles hold a 7-2 record against the Bucs in the conference tournament, 4-2 in the opening round/quarterfinals.
The last time the Eagles and Bucs squared off in the conference tournament were the quarterfinals in 2019 as Charleston Southern won 77-63.
The 2026 Air Force Reserve Big South Men's Basketball Championship will be televised on ESPN+ Wednesday-through-Saturday, while Sunday's Championship game will air live on ESPN2. The title game will also be broadcast nationally on Westwood One Sports. The Big South's Tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament.
