ASK AN EAGLE PRESENTED BY COROPLAST TAPE: Teagan Sychterz (Volleyball)

Q&A - Coroplast Student-Athlete Feature
Teagan Sychterz / R-Sophomore / Middle Blocker / Benson, N.C. / Triton H.S.
(Was 3rd on the team in kills this past season and led in total blocks as she earned Big South Second Team All-Conference honors)
1. What made you choose Winthrop?
During my first visit to Winthrop with Coach Heather, I instantly felt a connection not only to the lovely coaching staff but also to the school itself. It gave me a strong sense of belonging, and that was all I needed to know that Winthrop was the right choice for me.

2. Describe your hometown of Benson, NC. What are some of your favorite things about it?
Benson is a quiet, small town in North Carolina surrounded by farmers' fields and small lakes. Even though it's small, my favorite part about it is how peaceful it is, especially being able to look out over open fields and walk across the street to pet horses.

3. Coffee or Tea? Beach or Mountains? TV series or movie?
Coffee all the way, mountains, and TV series is either The Boys or Arcane.

4. Do you have a favorite place to go in Rock Hill? Be it food, entertainment or just to relax?
I like to sit by the fountain in downtown Rock Hill and have dinner there, especially around sunset.

5. What made you decide to pursue a degree in exercise science?
Exercise science as a whole offers endless possibilities across many different careers. I've known from a young age that I wanted to do something involving learning about the human body and helping people, and by majoring in exercise science, I can do just that.

6. When you grab your phone at the start of the day, what's the first app you're clicking on?
The first app I open every morning is my calendar app to see what my schedule looks like for the day.

7. What, if any, is your pre-game ritual?
Before every game I always do a one-minute wall sit as part of my pre-game ritual. It helps me focus and get into the right mindset before I step onto the court.

8. Do you have a nickname? If so, what's the meaning behind it and who gave it to you?
My favorite nickname is "Teag Meister," which was given to me by a teammate during our freshman year. There's no real backstory, it was just a name randomly given to me, and it has stuck for the last three years.

9. If you could go back in time to live, what decade would it be?
I would want to go back to the 1980s, specifically to experience the music.

10. Who is your biggest inspiration or hero in your life?
My siblings, all 7 of them, are my biggest inspirations. They motivate me to be the best version of myself, to be a role model others can look up to, and to be the coolest little/big sister possible.
