ROCK HILL, S.C. -- The Winthrop University volleyball team defeated Presbyterian, 3-1, on Saturday.
Paige Bennett fired off 20 kills, her fourth match with 20-plus kills, while
Lexi Thatcher delivered 50 assists and
Addison Torain dug deep with a career-high 28 digs.

Set 1
- The Eagles built early separation in the opening set, moving ahead 10-4 behind three kills from Bennett, two from Little, and a Sychterz kill. Â
- PC worked back within 13-10 after McHatten's kill, but the Eagles answered with six straight points. Â
- Bennett, Thatcher, Little, and Rhoads recorded kills before a PC attack error and another Rhoads kill made it 19-10. Â
- PC took three of the next four points to get to 20-13, but Sychterz, Bowen, and Bennett helped the Eagles keep control down the stretch. Â
- Bowen put the Eagles at set point with a kill, and a block by Little and Bowen closed the set at 25-17.
Set 2 Â
- The Eagles opened the second set with kills from Bennett and Bowen on the way to a 4-2 lead. Â
- PC answered with kills from Dorlouis and McHatten to move in front 6-4 and later 10-7. Â
- The Eagles began their climb back with a Thatcher-Little block, then used a Sychterz kill and two PC errors to take a 12-11 lead. Â
- PC scored the next four points to go up 18-17, pushed ahead 22-19, and closed the set 25-21 on Dorlouis' kill.
Set 3 Â
- The Eagles answered PC's 5-3 start with three straight points, taking a 6-5 lead with kills from Rhoads, Thatcher, and Bennett. Â
- The sides traded points until Bowen's kill put the Eagles ahead 8-7, and after Cadavid's ace made it 9-7, two more Bowen kills and another from Bennett stretched the score to 12-8. Â
- The Eagles built the margin to 18-12 on a Rhoads kill and a block by Sychterz and Bowen before PC scored four straight to get within 18-16. Â
- Bowen's kill moved the Eagles to 19-16, and after PC cut it to 19-18, a service error and Kincaid's ace helped the Eagles regain space, closing the set 25-21.
Set 4 Â
- After the teams traded points to 4-4, Bennett's kill put the Eagles in front. Â
- With Bennett serving, the Eagles added five straight points on three PC attack errors and back-to-back aces for a 10-4 lead. Â
- Rhoads' kill made it 11-5 after a PC sideout, and the Eagles later went up 14-6 on a Sychterz kill, a PC attack error, and Thatcher's ace. Â
- PC scored four straight, including an O'Donnell ace and a Williams kill, to reach 14-10. Â
- The Eagles kept separation with kills from Rhoads and Bennett through the middle of the set, moving from 20-16 to 23-16 on a PC service error, Thatcher's kill, and another attack error, then closed the 25-18 set on Rhoads' kill from Thatcher.
