Jolley Tabbed as College Sports Communicators Academic All-American

AUSTIN, Texas – Winthrop University senior outside/opposite Avery Jolley has been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-American Third Team, the first time a Winthrop student-athlete has garnered the honors since Zak Butt did so in 2020.

The honor marks the 17th Eagle in school history to be recognized.

Jolley becomes the first Winthrop volleyball student-athlete to earn the distinction since Sarah Mae Billingsley in 2004, who also was placed on the third team, and only one other Eagle has been selected, Jennifer Pritchard in 2001 & 2002.

Jolley is also the Twelfth to do so in Big South volleyball history, becoming the latest since Abby Bottomley did so for High Point in 2020-21.

Jolley turned in a historic 2025 campaign, tying the program's single-match record with 30 kills in the regular-season finale while surpassing 1,000 career kills and climbing into the top ten of multiple Winthrop career categories. She totaled 380 kills (3.76 per set) and led the Big South at 4.26 points per set. Jolley earned Big South Preseason Player of the Year and Preseason All-Conference honors, was named to three All-Tournament Teams, collected four Big South Player of the Week awards, a feat achieved by only two Eagles previously, and became Winthrop's first Big South Player of the Year since 2019.
