Rock Hill, S.C. --Â Winthrop men's basketball head coach Mark Prosser has announced the hiring of Sid Crist as the Director of Basketball Operations.
Crist spent five years with the University of Pikeville, an NAIA institution, as both a graduate assistant and an assistant coach.
"We are so excited to welcome Sid to our program," said Prosser. "He has a wealth of successful experience at a variety of levels of college basketball, and has worked with some fantastic teachers of our game.
He possesses a tremendous work ethic, and has already hit the ground running with our student athletes. We are looking forward to the tremendous impact that Coach Crist will have on all aspects of our program!"
Crist began his coaching career at Fairmont State from 2013-16 after one playing season at Glenville State, helping the Falcons to a 67-26 record, two NCAA Tournament berths, and mentoring future pros Thomas Wimbish, Jamel Morris, and All-American Matt Bingaya. He spent 2016-17 as an assistant at the University of Charleston, where he handled scouting, recruiting, and post development, and then served as an assistant at West Virginia Wesleyan in 2017-18, overseeing all recruiting and scouting for the Bobcats.
