Jolley Earns Second Big South Player of the Week Award

ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Winthrop University volleyball senior outside/opposite hitter Avery Jolley was tabbed with her second BIg South Player of the Week honor of the season, the conference office announced on Monday.

Jolley, a native of Knoxville, Tenn., earns her third career player of the week honor, while also taking home the award on Sept. 15 thanks to her career-high 24 kill effort during that week.

She continues to be the driving force behind the Eagle offensive attack in her senior campaign, pacing Winthrop on Friday against Garnder-Webb with a game-high 20 kills. Jolley led all the Big South with the 20-kill effort in the win, closing out the fifth set with three-straight kills to help lift the Eagles over the Runnin' Bulldogs for their ninth consecutive home victory. On the defensive side, Jolley dug out a season-high 18 balls, sitting only two away from a 20-kill 20-dig performance. She was tied for the lead in total points over the weekend in conference matches only with 21.5 points. Jolley also notched her eighth double-double on the season. Out of eleven games played, Jolley has double-digit kills in all but one match.
