Rock Hill, S.C. – Winthrop dominated the second half as the Eagles went on to down Presbyterian on Senior Day Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Christina Warren got the Eagles on the board first with six minutes left in the opening frame and would lead 1-0 at the end of the quarter
- Emily Hollinger and Gabby Pierpont made it 3-0 Eagles at the 10:27 mark of the second quarter
- Presbyterian scored their first goal of the game three minutes later
- With 6:42 left in the stanza, Taylor Bumstead scoring her first goal of the season in her season debut on the free position, upping the lead for Winthrop to 4-1
- The Blue Hose scored the final two goals in the last three minutes of the half to make it a one-point game
- Scarlet Cifarelli opened the first three minutes of the second half with a pair of goals, putting Winthrop up 6-3
- Bumstead scored her second goal of the game on the free position, making it a four-point game with 7:15 left in the third quarter
- Pierpont then scored one minute later to put her team up five although the visitors quickly scored nearly immediately after Pierpont's goal
- Cifarelli took the margin back up to five on a free position shot with five minutes to go in the frame, getting herself a hat trick in the process
- Winthrop would lead 9-4 at the end of the quarter
- Hollinger scored her second of the game on the man-up one minute into the fourth period but the Blue Hose cut it to five shortly after
- Iris Leavitt and Olivia Paton made it 12-5 in favor of Winthrop with 10:38 to go in the game
- Presbyterian answered with a goal seconds later but Cifarelli scored her fourth of the day on the man-down with 6:30 to go
- Madison Mayer scored on the free position shot with five minutes to go and then Cifarelli and Ashlee Gensits scored to wrap up the scoring

- Eagles are now 106-114 all-time as a program
- Eagles are 46-38 all-time in Big South play
- Eagles are 54-44 all-time at home
- Winthrop outscored the Blue Hose 12-3 in the second half
- Nine different Eagles scored a goal, with Cifarelli leading the Eagles with five
- Winthrop outshot the Blue Hose on goal, 37-13 and was a perfect 19-of-19 in clears

- Scarlet Cifarelli is currently 6th all-time in school history in assists (currently has 51) and has now passed 50 career assists
- She needs two assists to move into 5th
- Cifarelli now has 105 shots and 89 shots on goal in her career
- Cifarelli also scored on the man-down, which was the first shorty of her career and puts her tied for 8th in career man-down goals at Winthrop
- Gabby Pierpont now has 71 draw controls and 51 groundballs in her career
- Madison Mayer now has 111 draw controls in her career
- Tori Iannotti has now gone over 50 draw controls in her career (currently has 70)
