Charleston, S.C. – Winthrop dropped the series opener at Charleston Southern Friday evening in 10 innings.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Mcaskie's RBI single to right field with two outs brought in Tuupo and put the Bucs up 1-0 at the end of the first
• In the top of the third, the Eagles tied it up as Alan Benhardt's fielder's choice brought in Dusty Vela
• With a guy on third with one out in the bottom of the inning, Harrison Wilson retired the next two batters to keep the game level
• In the fourth, Vela's popout to the shortstop got Ethan Wilson home and gave Winthrop a 2-1 advantage
• But Charleston Southern plated three across on Pringle's two-run RBI double to right field and Edgmon's RBI groundout to go ahead 4-2
• Winthrop quickly knotted the score in the top of the fifth on Chronis's RBI single to right field with two outs and during the play E. Wilson and Josh Skowronski came in to score via an error by the Buccaneers
• But the Bucs broke the tie with two outs in the bottom of the fifth on consecutive RBI singles by Rice and Edgmon
• Natividad's two-run RBI double down the left field line with one out in the eighth once again tied the contest 6-6
• The game would go to extra innings
• Smith's single to right field with one out won the game for Charleston Southern in 10 innings
