Rock Hill, S.C. – A big fourth inning lifted Winthrop softball to a 10-0 victory over Longwood in the Big South Conference opener for both teams, Friday afternoon on Terry Field

WHAT HAPPENED
- Eagles grabbed the lead in the bottom of the third inning thanks to a two-run home run to center by Peyton Bryden
- In the bottom of the fourth inning the Eagles opened the game up by pushing eight runs across
- It started when Emma Roberson stole second and on the throw Tia Beckham broke for home and scored for a 3-0 lead
- Emma Jackson made it 4-0 with a single up the middle to plate Roberson
- The next batter was Megan Powell and she singled to left center to score more two runs
- Beckham later in the inning had a two-run single for an 8-0 lead
- Grayson Buckner and Annelisa Winebarger also had RBI singles to put the Eagles on top 10-0
EXTRA BASES
- All eight runs in the bottom of the fourth inning came with two outs
- Eagles had six different players drive in at least one run and three with multiple

Winthrop and Longwood are back on Terry Field on Saturday, Mar. 15 for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
