- Nelson had six birdies, an eagle and a bogey on his way to the lowest round by an Eagle since Nick Mayfield's 8-under in the final round of the 2025 Big South Championship (stroke play)
- It was the lowest regular season round since Zach Seabolt posted 7-under in the second round of the 2014 Jones Sports Invitational
- Nelson's round is also one stroke off a record low in program history, which is held by Damon Postal and Nick Mayfield (-8)
