Rock Hill, S.C. – Big South Conference play has arrived as Winthrop will open league action on Wednesday, Dec. 31 at 3 p.m. as it travels to Farmville, Va. to take on Longwood.

WINTHROP       
  • Coming off the first double-digit loss of the season at #15 Texas Tech, but the Eagles secured a winning record in non-conference action for a third straight year
  • The Eagles had four threes in the game, ending a streak of 10 or more in a game at five straight
  • Prior to the loss at Texas Tech the Eagles earned a 107-41 win over Clinton College, a third straight home game with 100 or more points
  • On Dec. 18, the Eagles suffered a 90-88 loss in the final seconds at North Dakota
  • The Fighting Hawks knocked down a three with .5 seconds left after the Eagles had just drilled a three by Daylen Berry for the lead
  • Two of the last three road games have both come down to the final seconds, as the previous road contest saw the Eagles win 94-92 in overtime at the buzzer
  • The 107 points vs. Clinton College was the 5th game this season reaching the century mark
  • The 66-point margin of victory was the second-largest in program history as the Eagles improved to 5-1 at home
  • The only home loss of the season came at the hands of Coastal Carolina in the final seconds of an 88-84 setback
  • Eagles connected on 14 threes in the win over Clinton and have 10 or more threes in five straight games

  • Clouet led the Eagles with 21 points (5 threes) and is second on the team with 29 made on the year
  • Duncomb is 1-of-4 Eagles averaging double-figures as Kareem Rozier is second at 13.0 ppg followed by Berry (12.4) and Clouet (11.5)
  • Prior to the loss at Texas Tech, the first five road losses were by a combined total of 23 points (average loss of 4.6)
  • Lost to the 21st-ranked Arkansas on the road by one point (84-83)
  • In the loss to the Razorbacks the Eagles knocked down 15 threes and followed that up with 11 threes at Jackson State

  • Prosser earned his 100th career win on Nov. 15, which also happened to be the program's 800th win all-time (Eagles won on a buzzer three)

  • Earned 23 wins for the second time under Prosser and for the 5th in program history

  • Posted an 11-5 league mark to tie UNC Asheville for second place in the Big South standings
  • Led the nation in free throw attempts per game (28.5) and 4th in free throws made per game (19.1)
  • Broke the program record for scoring offense (84.7 ppg), free throws attempted (970) and free throws made (648)
  • The scoring average broke the previous record of 83.6 held by the 1992-93 team
  • Also set a program record for most 100-point games in a single-season with six

25th ANNIVERSARY
This year celebrates the 25th anniversary of the 2000-01 team that captured a third consecutive Big South Conference Title. The Eagles battled their way through the season to an 18-13 record. Preseason Player of the Year Greg Lewis was lost for the season after six games. The season opened with the Eagles challenging the 6th-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels in a 66-61 loss on the road. Led by Gregg Marshall the Eagles won eight of nine games to capture the conference championship, including a 67-65 overtime win in the title game over top-seeded Radford. The Eagles reached the title game after a 67-62 overtime win over Liberty. Winthrop was sent to the play-in game in Dayton, Ohio as the Eagles fell 71-67 to Northwestern State.
