High Point, N.C. – Winthrop fell in the series finale with the Panthers by a final score of 8-7 in Winthrop's final road series of the year. With the loss, the Eagles move to 17-28-1 overall and 6-14 in Big South play with three games remaining in the 2024 campaign.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- High Point struck first in the second inning on Miggy Echazaretta's RBI single with two outs, bringing in Charlie Klingler.
- Carr homered to left field with two outs in the next inning to increase High Point's lead to 2-0.
- Eric Grintz put the Panthers up 3-0 with a solo bomb to left field with one out in the bottom of the fourth.
- Affholter's homer to left field with two outs in the top of the fifth got the Eagles on the board and cut the deficit to 3-1.
- Wilson's two-run home run to left field with two outs in the top of the sixth inning tied the game.
- Back-to-back RBI singles with two outs by Ruocco and Chancellor Jennings in the top of the seventh gave Winthrop the lead for the first time at 5-3.
- The Panthers then tied the game by scoring two runs on an error with one out.
- Winthrop put guys on second and third with one out after Jaylen Hernandez's groundout in the Eagle half of the eighth.
- On the next play, Evans gave the Eagles a two-run lead again on a single through the left side.
- But the Panthers seized the lead for good with three runs in the bottom of the frame.
- Ruocco doubled to left center and Jennings walked with two outs on Winthrop's last chance to tie or win the game but Ricky Teel grounded out to end the contest.

Winthrop ends their 2024 season with a three-game Big South series next weekend against Charleston Southern at home. All of the games will be televised on ESPN+. Game one of the series will take place on Thursday, May 16 at 6:00 p.m. The final game of the series on Saturday, May 18 at 2 p.m. will be Senior Day.
