Queens, N.Y. – Winthrop dropped the first game of a doubleheader at St. John's by a final score of 18-4 in seven innings and then recording a 6-6 tie in the second game on Saturday afternoon. Winthrop moves to 11-14-1 overall.

HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 1)
- Blake Mayberry grounded out to bring in Jackson Tucker to start the first game.
- Anthony Brienza hit a two-run home run with two outs in the next inning to extend their lead.
- Aries Samek doubled to left center field to drive in two runs and put St. John's up 5-0 at the end of the third.
- St. John's scored nine runs in the fifth to take a 14-0 lead and then scored four more in the sixth to lead 18-0.
- In the seventh, Winthrop ended the shutout on an RBI single by Chancellor Jennings, a two-run RBI double by Abe Afholter and an RBI double by Nicholas Badillo.

HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 2)
- In the bottom of the first, Tucker found himself at third base but Jimmy Keenan popped up to end the inning and keeping the game level at zero.
- Winthrop burst out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the third on Colin Lombardo's RBI single, Jaylen Hernandez coming home to score on a wild pitch and a two-run RBI single by Jennings.
- All of the scoring plays in the inning for the Eagles occurred with two outs.
- St. John's got on the board in the bottom of the frame on a Blake Mayberry sac fly to center field, scoring Tucker.
- Cole Griffith made it a five-run game in the top of the fifth on a two-run blast down the left field line with two outs.
- In the bottom of the sixth, the Red Storm loaded the bases with one out and proceeded to cut the lead to three on Tucker's two-run RBI single to left field.
- Winthrop loaded the bases with one out but two straight outs ended the top of the seventh.
- St. John's tied the game in the bottom of the seventh with two outs.
- With Luke Orbon at third with two outs, he came home on an error, making the score 6-4.
