  • Peter Capobianco homered to center field to cut the lead in half in the bottom of the second.
  • Winthrop nearly restored their early two-run lead in the top of the third, as Badillo got to third on a wild pitch with two outs but Anthony Ruocco flew out to center field end the threat.
  • The Runnin' Bulldogs took the lead in the bottom of the fourth on Ethan Liao's two-run RBI single to right field with two outs.
  • The Eagles had runners on the corners in the top of the sixth after Ruocco drew a walk with one out but a strikeout and a groundout ended the inning.
  • Gardner-Webb threatened to extend their lead in the bottom of the inning with runners at second and third with two outs but Winthrop relief pitcher Caleb Jones fanned Mark Black.
  • The Eagles knotted things up in the seventh.
  • After two straight strikeouts, Alan Benhardt drew a walk.
  • Badillo then singled to right field and advanced Benhardt to third.
