SERIES HISTORY VERSUS USC UPSTATE
This is the 29th meeting between the Eagles and the Spartans, with Winthrop leading the series, 15-13. USC Upstate won the most recent meeting, 52-51 on Jan. 6 in Rock Hill. The first meeting between the two teams was on Feb. 14, 1977, with Winthrop winning 76-43 at home on the way to winning 11 of the first 16 meetings. USC Upstate has since won eight of the next 12 meetings since joining the Big South in 2012.
