Rock Hill, S.C. – Winthrop men's basketball defeated Bob Jones 103-55, Thursday evening at the Rock Hill Sports & Event Center for a fifth straight victory.
WINTHROP (9-3, 0-0 Big South)
- Kelton Talford (19 points, 14 rebounds, block)
- KJ. Doucet (13 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, steal)
- Nick Johnson (11 points, rebound, 3 assists, steal)
BOB JONES (3-4, 0-0 NCCAA)
- Trevor Brunson (21 points, assist, block, 2 steals)
- Trevor Pittman (7 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals)

FIRST HALF
- Bruins were on the board first as Trevor Brunson knocked down a right wing three
- Brunson dropped in another three for a 6-4 lead at the 18:03 mark followed by a tip-in by Trevor Pittman to lead 8-4
- Nick Johnson knocked down a right wing three to ignite a 21-0 run in a little over a six-minute span
- Johnson then tied the game at 8-8 as he was 1-of-2 at the foul line
- Ryan Jolly gave the Eagles then lead at the 15:59 mark with a triple and then Isaiah Wilson proceeded to score five straight points
- The run ended when Conner Barfield connected for three from the left wing
- Eagles eventually pushed their lead to over 20 points at the 3:23 mark after a second chance bucket from Kelton Talford
- The lead was pushed to as much as 25 twice over the final minute but a late three by Bob Jones made it a 22 point game at the break, 52-30
SECOND HALF
- Both teams were slow offensively out of the locker room going scoreless for two minutes and 10 seconds when Paul Jones III hit a corner three
- That started a 10-0 run to push the lead over 30 at 62-30 with 15:52 left
- A 12-2 run by the Eagles got the lead to 40 at 74-34 at the 13:12 mark
- Yoro Diallo made a layup at the 4:55 mark to extend the lead to 50
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Eagles finished the game shooting with a season-high 58 percent from the floor while holding Bob Jones to 32 percent
- Winthrop was 12-of-28 from three while Bob Jones finished 10-for-31
- Eagles dominated the glass 56-16 and 20 offensive rebounds led to 21 points
- The Winthrop bench finished with 47 points led by Yoro Diallo's 10
- Talford posted his 16th career double-double with 19 points and a season-high 14 points
NOTABLES
- The win is the 5th straight for the Eagles and gives them nine non-conference wins
- Eagles now have a chance at 10 or more non-conference wins for the first time since 2015-16
- Talford's 19 points pushed him past 1,500 for his career
