Bluffton, S.C. – The Winthrop women's cross country program won the Sand Shark Invitational while Hinds' rolled to the men's individual title Saturday morning.

Highlights
- The women dominated with pack running as the top seven women finished the 5k course within 32 seconds and all in the Top 15 and five athletes in the Top 10
- Freshman Anna Conrad and Ella Collins (5th overall-18:52 and 6th overall-18:53) led the way followed closely by junior Olivia Kemp (7th overall-18:56), sophomore Kyah Marques (9th overall-19:06) and freshman Brianna Dooney (10th overall-19:08)
- The women captured the team title with 37 points
- On the men's side, senior Daren Hinds cruised to a 45 second victory over the 8k course with a time of 24:57 while graduate student Jason Krell (4th overall-25:56) and senior Noah Woodbury (9th overall-26:30) to lead the Eagles to top ten finishes
- The men finished 2nd to Converse in the 14 team field
- This was Hinds' second first place finish in his career
- He won the 8k with a time of 25:33.6 at the Winthrop/Adidas Invitational back on Sep. 30, 2023
Up Next
Eagles will compete on Friday, Oct. 18 in the Winthrop/Adidas Invite, their lone home regular-season meet at the Winthrop Farm. The meet was originally scheduled to take place on Saturday, Sep. 28 but was postponed due to dangerous weather conditions because of Hurricane Helene. The women's 6k race will kick off at 4:30 p.m. while the men's 8k race will start at 5:15 p.m.
