Rock Hill, S.C. – Winthrop Volleyball (0-3, 0-0 Big South) continues their season this week as they travel to North Carolina State University for the Summit Hospitality Group Open.
SERIES HISTORY VERSUS RUTGERS
This is the second meeting between the programs. The only other meeting between the Eagles and the Scarlet Knights was on Aug. 29, 2014 with the Eagles winning 3-0 in Colorado Springs, Co. The Scarlet Knights went 8-24 (2-18 Big Ten Conference) in 2022.
SERIES HISTORY VERSUS HOWARD
Winthrop and Howard meet for the third time this weekend, with Winthrop leading the series 2-0. The first meeting was on Oct. 8, 1994 with the Eagles winning 3-2 and the most recent meeting was on Aug. 10, 1997 with the Eagles winning 3-1. The Bison went 20-10 (12-2 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) in 2022.
SERIES HISTORY VERSUS NC STATE
The teams meet for the ninth time this weekend. Winthrop is 1-7 all-time vs. the Wolfpack, with the one win and most recent meeting being on Sep. 1, 2006, a 3-1 final in Raleigh. The first meeting was in 1975, with NC State winning 2-0. The Wolfpack went 16-13 (10-8 Atlantic Coast Conference) in 2022.
GEARHART VS. THE PACK
Heather Gearhart went 7-1 vs. NC State in her time as a player for the North Carolina Tar Heels. After dropping her first contest to State in Raleigh her freshman year in 2012, Gearhart never lost again to the Wolfpack. This will be the first time in her coaching career she will face NC State.

Jessica Cinci made their collegiate debuts as the Eagles opened their season in the Rumble in the Rockies Invitational in Wyoming this past weekend. The Eagles fell 3-0 to Wyoming and 3-1 to South Dakota State, both on Friday and then falling 3-0 to Green Bay the next day.
Avery Jolley registered nearly 30 kills, which led Winthrop individually in that category for the week. Cadavid led the Eagles in digs on the week with 30 and played in every single set that Winthrop played in while
Isabella Murray led the Eagles in assists on the weekend with 77.

LOOKING AHEAD
Winthrop will travel to Gainesville, Fla. next week to participate in the Lady Gators Invitational at the Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center on the campus of the University of Florida. The Eagles will play Clemson, Sacramento State and host Florida, ranked #11 in the country. Winthrop will first face Clemson on Thursday at 4 p.m.
