DAVIDSON, N.C. – Winthrop moved to 1-2 on the season with a 16-6 loss to the Davidson Wildcats Wednesday afternoon on the road.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Ellie Dutton got the Eagles on the board first on the man-up advantage at the 5:33 mark.
• The Wildcats scored the next four goals to take a 4-1 lead into the second quarter.
• Davidson started the second quarter with four goals.
• Scarlet Cifarelli scored Winthrop's second goal of the game with 52 seconds left until halftime, leaving Winthrop down 8-2 heading into the locker room.
• Davidson started the second half with four goals before Grayson McKenzie scored twice to make it 12-4 at the 1:48 mark.
• The home team scored one more time in the third period to make it 13-4 entering the final frame.
• Davidson got a goal early in the fourth quarter before Gabby Pierpont made it 15-4 with 7:06 left in the contest.
• Davidson went up 10 at 15-5 with five minutes remaining.
• Erin Whitaker made it 15-6 with 2:27 left.
• Davidson tacked on one more with one second left.
