Rock Hill, S.C. – Coming off a 55-49 loss at North Florida on Wed., Dec. 20, Winthrop women's basketball (6-6, 0-0 Big South) takes the court for the first game in 10 days by traveling back to the Sunshine State for a Saturday afternoon matchup with the Gators of the University of Florida. The contest with the Gators marks the end of Winthrop's non-conference slate for the 2023-24 campaign.
SERIES HISTORY VERSUS FLORIDA
This is the second meeting between the Eagles and the Gators, with Florida winning the only other meeting between the two teams by a final score of 85-53 in Rock Hill on Mar. 25, 2013 in the second round of the WNIT. The contest was Winthrop's first ever post-season home contest past the Big South Tournament, with a record attendance of 1,254. Florida went 19-15 (5-11 SEC) in 2022-23, winning three games in the WNIT before bowing out to Bowling Green on the road 69-52 on Mar. 27.
