Rock Hill, S.C. – Alex Timmerman scored a season and game-high 19 points to lead Winthrop to a 90-49 victory over Bob Jones, Tuesday evening at the Winthrop Coliseum.

FIRST HALF
- Eagles opened the scoring at the 18:44 mark as Kelton Talford fed Chase Claxton for the slam
- Winthrop forced a turnover on the ensuing possession as Kasen Harrison came away with the steal and then found K.J. Doucet for three for a quick 5-0 lead
- Leading 7-5, Sin'Cere McMahon and Nick Johnson buried back-to-back threes for an eight point advantage with 13:27 left
- The lead became double-figures at the 9:12 mark as Harrison drained a three for a 21-11 lead
- Two free throws by Xavier McKelvy with eight and a half left started an 8-0 run for a 15 point advantage with 6:47 left in the half
- Alex Timmerman followed the McKelvy free throws with a three-point play and then scored inside off a feed from McMahon
- Doucet capped off the run with an And-1 off a turnover as he completed the three-point play to give the Eagles a 30-14 lead
- Winthrop extended its lead to 22 points after back-to-back threes from Johnson and McMahon
- Eagles led 43-22 at the break as they shot 57 percent from the floor while holding the Bruins to 20 percent
SECOND HALF
- A Talford basket inside to start the second half jumped started a 9-0 run to push the lead to 30 points at the 17:35 mark
- Following the Talford bucket, Harrison stole the ball and found Doucet for three
- Eagles forced another turnover as Talford connected with Harrison for a layup on the break
- The lead reached 40 points at 84-44 after Noah Van Bibber knocked down a three
- Eagles shot 53 percent from the floor in the second half, including a 10-for-10 effort at the foul line
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- For the games the Eagles shot 54 percent from the field and held Bob Jones to 33 percent
- Winthrop connected on 13 threes and finished 13-for-25 behind the arc
- At the foul line the Eagles were 19-for-23 and the Bruins finished 10-of-13
- Winthrop forced 16 turnovers it converted into 27 points and dominated the glass 39-24
- Alex Timmerman scored a game-high 19 points as he led the bench scoring that contributed 46 points in the game
NOTABLES
- Talford reached 1,000 career points in the first half of the contest and now has 1,002
- Eagles hit 13 threes in a game for the second time as Doucet finished 4-for-4 behind the arc and McMahon had three
- The Eagles dished out a season-high 22 assists, the most by an Eagle team since the 2020-21 team had 24 in an 83-54 victory over High Point
- Doucet, Harrison and McMahon each finished with a team-high five assists
- Doucet finished the game with 16 points and is now seven points away from 1,000 in his collegiate career
- Harrison tied a career-high with four steals as the team finished with 11, the third time this season the Eagles have had 11 or more in a game
